The Dark Era Of Good Mythical Morning
Description
First I want to explain that this video is largely representative of Rhett & Links personal feelings, not necessarily the reality of things. It's actually most likely not Rhett's fault, however, I included that message to induce emotional reaction similar to how Rhett was feeling during the time. They explained the whole situation on a few ear biscuits and just so this video doesn't get misinterpreted, I am going to summarize what happened. YouTube approached them and said "We can make Good Mythical Morning bigger", and offered new cameras, new staff, and more in exchange for making a total run-time of 22 minutes a day, and splitting the show into 4 different videos. Rhett & Link would not be relying on AdSense anymore but would, according to them, be paid by YouTube similar to how actors are paid in a TV show. I can not fault them for taking this opportunity because it was ultimately a smart business decision. And they were actually, as much as it pains me, not really enjoying Good Mythical Morning anymore, and were looking for a way to spice it up. Prior to the expanded GMM, they were having discussion about when GMM would end. Amidst all the feedback and criticism of the new format, Rhett was going through problems including stress, so much so that it began to manifest physically. Rhett's wife suggested he go to therapy, which he did. The stress was induced by how often they were filming new content and they couldn't find any free time in the schedule. And, for an unknown reason, YouTube actually pulled the plug to expanded format, not them. Rhett & Link said that the ending of the expanded format was one of the best moments of 2018 for them.
